Genesis 20:3, 6-9 KJV
“But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.”
[°]ABRAHAM WAS AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE AND THAT OF HIS WIFE WHEN HE CAME TO SOJOURN IN,GERAR.
[°]BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THAT HE MAY BE KILLED BY ANYONE WHO WOULD WANT TO COVET HIS BEAUTIFUL WIFE SARAH.
[°]Therefore he lied that Sarah was his sister. Of course the king of GERAR noticed the beautiful Sarah and wanted her.
[°]Now it was too late to come clean on this lie but God intervened on his behalf anyways.
GOD HATES OPPRESSION.
But the LORD reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne. He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness. The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you.
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God. He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners.
The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the LORD will protect his people.
